Beach House is a post-WWII home redesigned to accommodate a young family with two children
This post WWII home is located in the Beaches neighbourhood of Toronto and was designed for a young family with two children. The project scope included a two-storey rear addition as well as a renovation to open and update the existing house. Local details were reinterpreted throughout the home: modern cement board cladding was detailed to evoke the quaint ship-lap siding typical of the neighbourhood and the presence of the lake was subtly eluded to in the selective colour palette. Precise views were framed to take advantage of both the park exposure and the surrounding trees, both increasing the level of privacy while maximizing the features of the project’s location.
